We asked our cast and crew to play the original game our musical is based on, and here’s what happened.

• Emily Sonderegger – Left the starting town of Independence with 0 boxes of bullets. “Why would I need them?” She soon starved.
• Madeline Hatfield – The first cast member to attempt hunting with 1990s controls. Spent 13 bullets. Shot zero animals.
• Annie Chase – Contracted measles on day 4 of her journey, and spent 39 days getting lost. She did acquire two bottles of A1 Sauce.
• Sara Neal – Drowned in the 4 foot deep Kansas River on day 8. Fifteen bullets were lost in her rescue attempt.
• Benjamin Cross – Unsuccessfully thwarted bandits during the night, who stole all of the family’s clothes and 3 oxen.
• Nyah Vollmar – Played as a family of carpenters on her first ever attempt, and successfully reached Oregon with 2 additional oxen.
• Nyah Vollmar – Her luck ran out on a second attempt, as her wagon caught on fire (twice) and a misclick caused 14 drownings.
• Nolan Monsibay & Christina Jardine – Tied for the most misfortune (illness, injuries, getting lost) befalling them at 6 each.
• Robert Angell – Reached Oregon after beginning with meager rations and a strenuous pace and defeating every single disease.
• Clint Foley – Broke every limb possible, but promptly perished just 25 miles away from reaching the Oregon state line.
• Kyle Sanderson – Attempted to trade goods with every traveler in Soda Springs. Eventually, people just stopped talking to us.
• Nolan Monsibay – Twerked to every MIDI cover of American Standards that the game spurted out.
